YES! Halleluah! Get out your gold medals, wake up your taste buds and hold on to your hats.. because I can officially tell you where to find the best coffee not just in Hobart, or Tasmania, or Australia … but the best coffee, I safely believe, in the WORLD.
This promise does not come lightly. My palette is well educated and vastly experienced where coffee is concerned. It has weathered the stagnant instant coffee of European train station machines. It has settled in Paris with a milky liquid with whipped cream, from the motherland that gave us ‘le cafe’. It has sipped rocket fuel in Rome. It has been to the busiest Starbucks in all of America (Boston College campus). It has delighted in the initial offerings of the likes of Costa and Cafe Nero in the UK. But it was not until it arrived in humble Hobart, Tasmania, that it really found itself.
Yes. The best coffee. In the WORLD.
Feast your eyes!
Behold! The sweet nectar of the coffee Gods! A perfect and delicately balanced fusion of milkiness and strength, kick and smoothness, froth and force.
It is. the best coffee. EVER. And I have been having an on-going affair with it for 5 months, every time I am in Hobart. And it’s always unmistakably good.
I rave about it like I’m having an affair. And, in a way, I AM! It understands me, it pleases me, it satisfies me like no one else can. I may not get it that often, but when I do the waist has been worth it, and the satisfaction is all the sweeter for the weeks that kept us apart. Our moments together are precious, naughty, gloriously euphoric, utterly unforgettable. And then parting.. oh, the parting! Such sweet sorrow! My fingers circle around the glass, I close my eyes and take in its exotic aroma and unmistakable, unique taste one more time… and then I must leave. But the memories still linger…
I really hope the barista at Tricycle doesn’t read this. I wouldn’t want to give them performance anxiety.
